Muhammad Hisham Kabbani (28 January 1945) is a Lebanese-American Sufi Muslim. Kabbani has counseled and advised Muslim leaders to build community resilience against violent extremism. In 2012 the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre named him one of the top 500 most influential Muslims. His notable students include the world-famous boxer Muhammad Ali and former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Painted within his blessed turban are the 40 names of the Golden spiritual Shaykh's of the Naqshbandi Sufi order. The top-most and first name is of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) thereafter Abu Bakr Siddiq (ra) and then the chain of spiritual leaders of the past 1400 years of Islamic history.
The painting was pre-ordered by one of the mureeds (disciples) of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani. The disciple brought the painitng to gift to the Shaykh and is now in the process of becoming part of book covers and illustrations for the Shaykh's future academical works.
